Privacy Policy

Effective September 24, 2026

The short version

Kaedo collects what it needs to run group events and nothing else. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and we never see or store payment credentials — payments happen in other apps.

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email, and avatar, provided through Sign in with Apple or Google when you create an account.
  • Event content: events, RSVPs, messages, polls, plans, checklists, cost entries, receipt images, and photos you or your group add. Organizers may add a person to an event by name before that person joins.
  • Guest contact details: an email address, or a mobile number you verify with a code, if you leave one when you answer an invite on the web. Used only to reach you about that trip.
  • Usage: which screens and features are used, so we can tell what works. Never sold, never used for ads.
  • Payment handles: optionally, your public Venmo / Cash App / PayPal username, so friends can pay you in those apps. Never card numbers, bank details, or credentials.
  • Device: a push notification token if you allow notifications, and basic logs needed to keep the service running.

How we use it

To run the product: showing your events to the people in them, delivering messages and notifications you’ve chosen to receive, generating invite pages for links you share, and keeping the who-owes-what ledger.

Some features use an AI service (Anthropic) and send it the information they need for that one job: a receipt image, to read the line items back to you; a link, screenshot or text you drop into a trip, to work out what it is; a question you ask Scout, along with that trip’s plan, roster, costs, polls and recent messages so the answer is about your trip; and, in Explore, the trip’s headcount, budget range and plan to pick places that fit. Nothing is sent unless you use the feature, door codes and Wi-Fi details are never sent, and none of it is used to train models.

Who can see what

Your event content is visible to the people in that event. An event’s invite page — name, dates, town, who’s in, the invitation image, the vibe board and the album — is visible to anyone holding its invite link. Costs, chat, packing lists, door codes and the street address are not on the invite page; the address and the plan appear only for guests the organizer has let in. Nothing you put in Kaedo is public beyond that, and there are no public profiles.

Who we share it with

Only the services that run Kaedo: Supabase (database, authentication, file storage), Vercel (web hosting), Google Firebase (push notification delivery), Resend (email), Twilio (text messages, for guests who turn them on), Apple and Google (sign-in, and the in-app purchase when you buy a trip), RevenueCat (confirms a purchase with Apple or Google and tells us it happened; it receives your account id and the store’s transaction record, never your name or your trips), Anthropic (the AI features above), Sentry (crash reports, without your content), Google Places and Ticketmaster (places and events in Explore, sent a city name and nothing about you), and a flight-status provider (a flight number and date, for flights you add). Public data sources with no account behind them — OpenStreetMap, Wikipedia and Wikivoyage, Open-Meteo and the European Central Bank — supply place search, city blurbs, weather and exchange rates. Each receives only what its job requires. We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone, and we don’t share it with advertisers — we have none.

Text messages

A guest who answers an invite on the web can choose to get trip reminders by text. We collect the mobile number they enter, confirm it with a one-time code, and use it only to send reminders about that trip: the RSVP deadline, the day before, and a payment request if one comes. Up to two texts a day. Messages are sent through Twilio. Reply STOP to any message to stop them, or HELP for help; message and data rates may apply. Mobile numbers and text opt-in consent are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Your controls

  • Notification switches live on your profile; you can also mute any single event.
  • You can delete your own messages and photos in the app; organizers can moderate their events.
  • You can delete your account from the You tab ("Delete my account"). It happens immediately: your messages, photos and files are removed, your name comes off shared costs, and trips you organized are handed to another member or deleted. You can also ask by emailing support@kaedoapp.com from your account email. Entries others rely on (like a paid/unpaid share) persist in anonymized form.

Retention and security

We keep data for as long as your account exists or as needed to run events you’re part of. Data is stored with industry-standard providers, encrypted in transit, with row-level access rules so only your groups can read your groups’ data. No system is perfectly secure — don’t put anything in a group chat you couldn’t stand a groupmate screenshotting anyway.

Children

Kaedo is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child is using Kaedo, contact us and we’ll remove the account.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially, we’ll say so in the app. Questions or requests: support@kaedoapp.com.
